What ChatMail and Renati actually are
They are two separate products, developed by Myntex, that are designed to be used together. Tech Repairs Dundee does not develop, own or manufacture either of them.

A security-focused, hardened Android operating environment used on supported Pixel hardware, built to remove services and interfaces that widen the attack surface.

The features below are those published by ChatMail and Renati. No security product can make a device risk-free, and available functionality can change between releases and configurations — ask us to confirm what applies to a current setup.
Encrypted messaging
ChatMail secures messages, voice notes and pictures using its own CAMP protocol, combining Curve25519 key exchange, AES-256 and HMAC-SHA256, with 4096-bit PGP available for external contacts.
Encrypted calling
Encrypted voice conversations between ChatMail users, including calls with up to two other ChatMail users at the same time.
Anonymous group chat
Group conversations use randomly generated names, so group membership is not tied to identifying contact details.
Self-destructing messages
Messages can be set to destroy themselves on every device in the conversation, with published lifetime options of up to 30 days (45 days for favourited messages).
Encrypted camera and photos
Pictures are captured and stored inside the encrypted application without cached copies being left behind on the device.
In-app image editing
Sketch, annotate, crop, flip and rotate images inside the encrypted app rather than exporting them to other tools.
Tamper and duress controls
An optional duress password, a notebook lock screen with its own PIN, and remote wipe and anti-theft protection are all part of the ChatMail feature set.
Keys stay on the device
ChatMail states that private keys never leave the device, so message keys are not held centrally on your behalf.
Reduced third-party exposure
On Renati, Google Play Store access, Firebase Cloud Messaging and third-party app installation are removed, cutting the number of services that can touch your data.
ChatMail, strengthened by Renati
In simple terms: ChatMail handles the secure communication, and Renati provides the security-focused environment it runs in. An encrypted app is only as private as the system underneath it, so Renati strips out the parts of a normal Android phone that most often leak data or provide a route in — then ChatMail keeps the messages, calls and pictures encrypted on top of it.

Privacy-focused device design
Renati deliberately removes or disables functionality that a standard smartphone includes. Published examples include:
- Bluetooth, GPS, NFC and fused location services removed
- USB signalling and ADB access removed
- Google Play Store access removed — no third-party app installation
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google's push backend) removed
- Internet browsing removed from the device
- Custom Linux kernel with tamper-proof Android Verified Boot
That trade-off is intentional: some everyday smartphone convenience is given up in exchange for a smaller attack surface and less data exposure. Not every configuration or release carries exactly the same restrictions, so please confirm the specifics with us before you buy.
